  3.    Take symmetric matrices of various dimensions, and raise them to various powers (perhaps even including the  -1  power, i.e. the inverse).  Do the powers appear to have any special form?

  5.    Make a conjecture about powers of a symmetric matrix.
  6.  
  7.    Try to prove your conjecture.
  8.
